ABOUT THE FOUNDER

Twenty-plus years inside the firms that handle the genuinely difficult matters.

"International tax is unforgiving. The client deserves a professional who has been doing this long enough to recognize the situation before it becomes the problem."

After serving in the Marine Corps, Joe began his international tax career in 2002 with Deloitte, advising multinational employers on the U.S. tax implications of having inbound and outbound assignees. Over the next two decades, he led teams of tax consultants at PricewaterhouseCoopers, Ernst & Young, Grant Thornton, and Vialto Partners.

Across each of those engagements, the work was consistently focused on U.S. citizens and permanent residents employed abroad, foreign nationals living in the United States, and entrepreneurs moving capital across tax jurisdictions, including: tax compliance, treaty interpretation, equity planning, tax strategy, and representation before the tax authorities.

Joe completed his Juris Doctor at Georgia State University and was admitted to the State Bar of Georgia in 2020, adding formal legal capability to a tax practice already rooted in passive foreign investment companies, controlled foreign corporations, foreign trusts, and foreign partnership compliance and consulting. Crossbridge Tax was built to bring that comprehensive skill set to clients seeking a trusted advisor with a long term outlook - not a throughput model, an offshore preparation pipeline, or junior staff layers that define most of the volume driven competitors in this market.

Joe continues to advise on the matters that benefit most from that depth of experience: pre-immigration planning, expatriation and exit-tax exposure, foreign-account remediation under the streamlined procedures, FEIE versus foreign tax credit modeling, treaty-based positions, and the structuring of U.S. entities and the U.S. tax footprint of foreign entities.

ON BUILDING CROSSBRIDGE

Built deliberately small.
And held to one standard.

The volume-based expat tax firms built their businesses on software and offshore labor. Crossbridge was built on the opposite premise: fewer clients, deeper work, consistent senior credentials at every touchpoint - being a trusted advisor that always put the clients’ needs ahead of their own, listens carefully to what clients say and don’t say, and has the courage and experience to be candid with the client.
